terms of service

effective 3 july 2026

hi. these are the terms for using HelloHuman (shown in the app as “Hello”), an iOS app for learning languages. by using the app you agree to them, so please read them.

i’ve kept them short and human. they sit alongside the privacy policy at https://www.hello-human.world/legal/privacy, which explains how i handle your data.

if anything here is unclear, email me at stanislavaki@gmail.com and i’ll explain.

who i am

HelloHuman is made and run by one individual — a sole trader, not a company. in these terms, “i”, “me” and “my” mean that person; “you” means you, the person using the app.

what hello is

hello is a tool for learning languages. you can look up and save words, get definitions, examples, pronunciation and images, read text from photos, and practise with flash cards. much of this content is generated by AI to help you learn.

it’s a learning aid, not a certified course, a professional translation service, or any kind of professional advice.

your account

  • you sign in with Apple or Google. keep access to that login secure — anyone who can use it can use your account.
  • the account is for one person: you. don’t share it or let someone else use it as their own.
  • you need to be old enough to agree to these terms — at least 16, or the age of digital consent where you live if that’s lower. the app isn’t meant for children.
  • you’re responsible for what happens under your account.

using the app fairly

i keep the rules light. essentially: don’t break the law, and don’t break the app. specifically, please don’t:

  • use hello for anything illegal, or to harm, harass, or infringe the rights of others.
  • try to get around usage limits, security, or authentication, or otherwise abuse the free service.
  • overload, disrupt, probe, or attack the service or the systems behind it.
  • scrape, reverse-engineer, decompile, or resell the app or its content, except where the law says you may.
  • feed in other people’s private or confidential information, or content you don’t have the right to use.
  • deliberately misuse the AI to generate content that is illegal, abusive, or harmful.

if you seriously or repeatedly break these rules, i may limit or close your access (see “ending things”).

the ai-generated content

definitions, translations, examples, hints, audio, and the reading of text or objects from your photos are generated by AI. it’s genuinely useful, but it can be wrong, incomplete, or out of date.

treat it as a study aid, not the final word. don’t rely on it for anything important — a medical, legal, financial, safety, or official-translation decision — without checking a qualified source. you use AI-generated content at your own discretion.

if something the AI produced looks harmful or wrong, you can report it from within the app, and i’d appreciate you telling me at stanislavaki@gmail.com.

your content

  • the words, notes, and text you add stay yours. i don’t claim ownership of them.
  • to actually run the features for you, you give me permission to store your content and to send it to the service providers listed in the privacy policy (for example, to generate a definition or read a photo). that permission is limited to operating the app for you, and it ends when you delete the content or your account.
  • you’re responsible for what you put into the app, and you confirm you have the right to use it.

free service & limits

  • hello is free to use right now.
  • to keep it sustainable, some features have daily usage limits, and those limits (and the features themselves) can change, appear, or go away over time.
  • there are no in-app payments at the moment. if i add a paid plan later, i’ll set out its terms clearly before you pay for anything, and any purchase in the app would go through Apple.

availability

i work to keep hello running well, but i can’t promise it will always be available, uninterrupted, or error-free. i may update it, pause it for maintenance, or change or withdraw features. i’ll try not to be disruptive about it.

the app is provided “as is”

to the fullest extent the law allows, hello is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind — express or implied — including that it will be accurate, uninterrupted, or fit for a particular purpose.

nothing in these terms removes or limits any rights you have as a consumer that can’t be excluded under the law of your country. if a mandatory consumer law gives you more than these terms do, that law wins.

my liability

to the extent the law allows, i’m not liable for indirect or consequential losses, lost data, or losses that weren’t reasonably foreseeable, and i’m not responsible for decisions you make by relying on AI-generated content. i also don’t take responsibility for third-party services (like Apple or Google sign-in) or for anything on sites the app links to.

i don’t exclude or limit my liability for anything that can’t lawfully be excluded — for example death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or your non-excludable statutory consumer rights.

ending things

  • you can stop using hello at any time. you can delete your account in the app (Profile → delete account), which erases your data as described in the privacy policy.
  • i may suspend or close an account that seriously or repeatedly breaks these terms, or where i have to for legal or security reasons. where it’s reasonable to, i’ll tell you why.
  • the parts of these terms that should survive the end of your use — like the content permissions you’ve already given, disclaimers, and liability — carry on afterward.

the law that applies

these terms are governed by the law of Germany, and disputes can be dealt with by its courts.

if you’re a consumer in the EU or the UK, this doesn’t take away the protection of the mandatory consumer laws of the country you live in, and you can also bring proceedings in your home courts.

changes to these terms

i may update these terms — for example if the app changes or a paid plan launches. when i make a material change i’ll update the effective date at the top and, where it matters, show a notice in the app. if you keep using hello after a change takes effect, that counts as accepting the updated terms; if you don’t agree, you can stop using the app and delete your account.
